From Nicholas Sparks’ breakout hit, The Notebook—written when he was just 28 years old—to such blockbusters as Message in a Bottle, Dear John and Nights in Rodanthe, there’s no disputing that the international mega-bestselling author “knows how to tug at a reader's heartstrings” (Chicago Sun-Times). Now Sparks has returned with a new emotionally wrenching tale that will thrill his legions of devoted fans and keep them totally enthralled. In that vein, it’s a good time to listen to People magazine and “grab a Chardonnay” for another unforgettable “date with Sparks.”
The Best of Me is the heart-rending story of two former high school sweethearts from a small town—and from far opposite sides of the tracks. Now middle-aged, they’ve each taken wildly divergent paths, but neither has lived the life they always imagined…and neither can forget the passionate first love that forever altered their world. When they are both called back to their hometown for the funeral of the beloved mentor who long ago gave them shelter when they needed it most, they will be forced to confront the choices each has made and ask whether love can truly rewrite the past.

Another great book! Hope they make it into a movie. Couldn't put the book down. I've read all of his books, & I'm never disappointed.

I have yet to be dissapointed by any of Nicholas Sparks' books. I hope this one also is made into a major motion picture. Would make for a great one!!!

I have every book by Nicholas Sparks and have loved them all including "The Best of Me". I was so engrossed in this book, I read it in one afternoon. As in almost every book by Nicholas, I cried, but it was a good cry if u truly understand a once in a lifetime love! I can't wait for the next one!

I've read all of his books, and genuinely enjoyed each one....until this one. I thought it was slow and not very original at all. I feel like any author who meets with the stress of success is bound to produce a mediocre let down novel at some point...to me, this is it for Sparks. The characters weren't believable, the plot was...well, lame, and I found myself counting the pages until I could finish the book and read something different. I honestly don't think it's uncommon for any author to produce a flop...I only hope he rebounds from this disappointment and gets back to writing the stories that we all know and love.

I always say I will not read another Sparks book because there have been few endings to my liking. But I can never resist. Another winner, if you like to cry.
