Here in one volume are the first two books in L.J. Smith’s mesmerizing series, the Vampire Diaries.
In The Awakening, Stefan, the mysterious new boy in Elena’s school only appears impervious to her beauty. In reality, she reminds him of someone from his tragic past, and for that reason he’s determined to resist her. But when a series of attacks in town cast suspicion on Stefan, Elena’s offer to help brings them together. Soon Stefan confides that he is a vampire hiding from his evil brother, Damon, who, unlike him, savors human blood. Can Elena prove Stefan’s innocence without revealing his secret? In The Struggle, the alluring Damon is determined to make Elena his queen of darkness, thus creating a dangerous love triangle.

I absolutly LOVE the TV series Vampire Diaries, so I was excited to try out the books. The writing is awful. The conversations that the teens have between eachother are hilarious, no one talks like that. I quit reading the first book not even a quarter of the way through and gave it three more tries. I never made it to the half way point. I was so disappointed. But it makes me love the TV series so much more. Kudos to the TV producers for taking it to a different level. I will never read another book from this author. (Or try to for that matter)

Have read the Volume 1 and volume 2 and have enjoyed them very much. They both were right up there with another author, I have read, whose books have been made into movies. I am looking forward to purchasing her next two books in her series, "The Vampire Diaries". I would recommend her books to everyone as well as her "Night World" series.

I love these books. No they are not like the television program...yet I love them in their own way because I love the tv show also. These are a great read!

the books aren't bad, i really enjoy the tv show and was a little disappointed that the books are totally different. the names of people, family members, friends, places, etc. they are different so it was hard for me to get too into it already having an idea of the story from the tv show. i will read all of the books anyway but in my opinion twilight saga is still the best books like this by far!
