L.J. Smith’s chilling Vampire Diaries continue with The Return: Nightfall.
After sacrificing herself to save the vampire brothers who love her—handsome, brooding Stefan and the dangerous Damon—Elena was saved by a supernatural force and given extraordinary powers. What’s more, the new blood running through her veins is irresistible to all vampires. Stefan is determined to keep Elena safe so that they can build a life together, while Damon, in his insatiable quest for power, wants her to rule by his side. But none of them are a match for the darkness infiltrating the town, or for the malevolent creature who turns Damon, the hunter, into the hunted. This creature can posses him at will, and what it wants is Elena’s death….

This book was okay until I got to where Stefan disappears and these other creatures
come into the picture then I got bored with it but finished the book. The newest one is turning out to be just as bad I think but still reading it to see what happens.

I read the first four books in a very short time. I love them all and was excited to get this one. However, it was a bit of a let down. It was very odd in places and didn't make sense, but overall it was ok. Liked the ending, and hope the next one is better.

I was really excited that L.J. Smith continued the series. I loved that the book did not go back and explain previous volumes. You really had to remember the first books to understand, and I really appreciated that aspect. Its an exciting read, but at times slow going. The basic idea of Stefan leaving Elana mirrors the Twilight series New Moon; BUT is completely different in content. Some parts of the book I had to Re-read just to be sure I got everything, but all in all I loved it.
