How Do Dinosaurs Say I Love You?

How do dinosaurs say I love you? With pointy-toothed smiles, big snuggly hugs and lots and lots of kisses! Come along and join the fun as some very unruly dinosaur children test the patience of their grown-ups…but also show how much they love their parents, too! Talk about a match made in heaven! In his hilarious illustrations, Mark Teague perfectly captures Mom and Dad’s stricken looks when disaster (repeatedly!) strikes, the glint in the young dinosaurs’ eyes that show they know they’re up to no good, even the stuffed animals’ all-knowing looks that trouble is a-brewin’, while Jane Yolen’s heartfelt rhymes reassure little ones that even when they romp and stomp and rant and pout, they are always loved. (Ages 4 and under)

Even my nearly 2 year old LOVES this book!

As a teacher, I knew Jane Yolen is a fantastic author. This was no disappointment. My son, never got into dinosaurs. This book DID it! Before bed, he asks, "Dino book, please." Please! How cute. Granted there are very few words, but he does like the love, love hugs, no matter what. He also gives me hugs when dino gives his momma hugs!!! Cute book. He loves it.

Not as well written as the previous books
October 19, 2009

We brought this book as soon as it came out because my daughter loves the other "How do Dinosaurs..." books. But this book was a huge disappointment. Unlike the other books, it does not rhyme. There isn't much of a plot or something valuable for your child to learn -- unless you count that no matter how horribly your child misbehaves, a hug to say I love you will erase everything away. My 3 year old did not care for the book at all; frankly, neither did we.

Not nearly as catchy as the previous books, and no real lesson for the kiddos, but this one made me cry the 1st time I read it! Wonderful art, as always!
