With all the crazy colors, wild excitement and unexpected twists in David McKee’s popular Elmer the Patchwork Elephant picture book series, it’s no wonder the elephant who isn’t afraid to be himself is such a huge star with kids all over the world!
It’s almost Elmer’s special day and to celebrate, the regular-colored elephants are busy painting themselves in bright colors just like Elmer. But the other animals are wondering why they can’t get in on the fun, too! So Elmer invites all of the jungle animals to decorate themselves in polka-dots and stripes and zig-zags and join in the Elmer’s Day Parade. What Elmer doesn’t know is that he’s about to get the best surprise ever when the other animals make their grand appearance! (Ages 2-4)

My son was only seven months old when I bought this book, but he loves it! The bright colors caught his eye from across the room, and he gets excited whenever he sees it. I think he will only continue to enjoy the book as he grows older and can appreciate the beautiful story that enhances the beautiful illustrations.

My son is almost three and loves elephants. He really enjoys this book and all of the colorful pictures. He always wants to read it more than once. And I really like the underlying message.
