When a misbehaving Max is banished to his room without dinner by his mother, he does what any kid would love to do: he sails to a distant island populated by giant, freakish monsters who are every bit as wild as he is. Even better—they’re impressed enough by his ferocious claws and indomitable spirit to make him their king.
For decades, Maurice Sendak’s Caldecott Medal-winning picture book has been delighting folks of all ages who’ve ever fantasized about becoming lord of their own rumpus. So go ahead—let the wind fill your sail and take you to where the wild things are, then cut loose the monster within. Your porridge will still be hot—and your mother will still love you—when you get back. (All ages)

I bought this book for my four-year-old son because I heard what a great book it is. Well, he's five now and he still doesn't seem interested in it. The story to me is very good, but he doesn't ask for it.

After I read this book to my 5 year old and my 2 year old just 3 times, they both recite much of the book to me each night. This is a must have book.
