When a misbehaving Max is banished to his room without dinner by his mother, he does what any kid would love to do: he sails to a distant island populated by giant, freakish monsters who are every bit as wild as he is. Even better—they’re impressed enough by his ferocious claws and indomitable spirit to make him their king. For decades, Maurice Sendak’s Caldecott Medal-winning picture book has been delighting folks of all ages who’ve ever fantasized about becoming lord of their own rumpus. So go ahead—let the wind fill your sail and take you to where the wild things are, then cut loose the monster within. Your porridge will still be hot—and your mother will still love you—when you get back. (All ages)

The recent movie release of "Where the Wild the Are" prompted me to buy the book. So glad that I did. We have not seen the movie yet, but the book has definitely become one of my daughter's favorites. It also helps with teaching manners!

An amazing opportunity to share a piece of my childhood with my children. I think I enjoyed it more as a parent of a strongwilled, imaginative child than I did reading it 20 years ago. A must have for any parent to include in their collection.

I loved this book as a child and even now as an adult. It has adventure, laughs, and valuable lessons that children can learn. I can't wait to have a child I can pass this on too.

I love this book but I need some help.
About 25 years ago when I was a kid I had this book and I had another. I found this book of course but I am still looking for the other one.
All I remember from it is that it had almost a creepy feel to it when I was a kid. I remember there was a large strange looking creature that was very fat and egg shaped that lived inside a tree. From what I remember there was allot of junk around his tree and he was standing under the tree and crying because something poked him in the eye. There was also a band-aid that was on the side of his head and he had big tears coming out of his big eye.
Does this ring a bell for anyone?
thanks
