Here, in one volume, is a timeless classic of Western literature—the complete fairy tales of the Brothers Grimm. This edition collects more than 200 tales beloved by readers of all ages—“The Sleeping Beauty,” “Rumpelstiltskin,” “Hansel and Gretel,” “Snow White” and other favorites—as well as little-known treasures like “The Juniper Tree,” “Clever Gretel,” “King Thrushbeard” and “The Singing, Soaring Lark.”
Between these covers, Grimm’s Complete Fairy Tales captures all the magic, adventure, humor and romance anyone could ask for, in stories of princesses and poor girls, of thieves, witches and handsome princes, of foxes and geese, swans and ravens, cats and mice, donkeys and devils.
These magnificent tales, which date back to the dawn of storytelling among the people of northern Europe, were first completed by Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm and published in Germany in 1812 and 1815. Since then, selections from these stories have appeared in countless translations throughout the world and have thrilled generations of captive audiences in radio and stage plays, on television and in movies. Enter this world of enchantment, and you will return to it time and time again.

I bought this for my youngest when he was twelve. He loved it so much he took it to school where everyone wanted to borrow it. We finally got the much battered book back. I think he was surprised by the non-Disney versions of these fairy tales. Would recommend for any older child.

This book was read to me as a child. I read it to my children and passed it on to my oldest daughter. I now am buying a copy for my other daughter for her kids. I feel this is a classic book, that every child should have the opportunity to have read to them.
We shouldn't let our children grow up without these awesome stories.

I read this book and all the other fariy tale books I could get ahold of to my children as they were growing up. They now read them to their children. It is wonderful to see a childs face light up or get serious over a story. Because of all the tales, All of my children and grandchildren are avid readers. I love the Grimms tales, and so do they.

I bought this book for my two grandsons, ages 6 and 8, for Christmas, for their parents to read as bedtime stories. I loved this book as a child and I am now 71 years old. Some of the old books like this one are the best.

The Grimm Brothers didn't write these stories. They just wrote down cautionary tales that had been passed down by mouth for generations. Are they for children? Well, you as the parent need to make that decision, but I do think that our kids could use a dose of morals. Granted, our kids don't need to be warned what could happen if you wander out into a primeval forest, but they do need to know that life is not all sweetness and light. I personally love the Grimm fairytales, and read age appropriate ones to my kids who are aged 5,9,11,and 15.
