Purchased for my 4 yr. old grandson. After we read it for the first time, he wanted to read it again right away. A very colorful and enjoyable book!

We bought this book because it was important for us to teach our children how important sharing is; how happiness is not self identified but how it is derived by the smiles of others. When you see others happy knowing that you have been the cause of their smiles it brings you the greatest happiness of all. Nothing explains this moral better than Rainbow Fish. The children loved it and since reading it the first time it has not only become one of their favorites but they truly enjoy sharing and spreading happiness with others..which is precisely why we wanted this story in the first place; to inspire them to love others in order to bring the greatest joy to themselves!

My son is 2 1/2 and knew that it was about sharing, but I think once he is in the book's category (4-6 years old) he will pick it up more often. Great illustrations!

This was actually our second Marcus Pfister book (the first was The Happy Hedgehog) and our daughter (who just turned 3) loves them both! I really look forward to reading this book to her. It is definitely not a 'baby" book and is written in a way that keeps a child's attention and teaches an important lesson. I would definitely recommend this book, as well as The Happy Hedgehog.

I love this book. I worked in a pre-k for 9 years and all of my students love it as well. All of the people stating it is teaching the wrong morals are totally wrong. YOU teach your child morals, not a book. Your 2-4 year old would never view the book the way you adults are and its ridiculous to say that a child will turn in to a Socialist simply by reading Rainbow Fish. Someone needs to stop over thinking things :/
