Barack Obama: Son of Promise, Child of Hope

Like Martin Luther King and John F. Kennedy, President Barack Obama has inspired millions of people around the world with his powerful message of change. Now you can inspire your child with this beautiful portrayal of the life and career of the “skinny man with the funny name” who is our nation’s first African-American president!

Even when President Obama was just a kid, he knew that he wanted to help people to improve their lives. Award-winning author Nikki Grimes and Caldecott-winning illustrator Bryan Collier take us from Obama’s childhood, when everyone he knew called him Barry, all the way to the not so distant past where he challenged us all to work together as one to make America better. (Ages 4-6)

Dillusional idiots
May 18, 2013

You people are idiots if you believe he has done any good in office. He is just as bad as the other presidents we had there. He tells people what he thinks they want to hear. He and his wife are just living high off our tax paying dollars. This Obamacare ,better watch out, its a nothing plan. He is a crook just like all the rest. We have no say in where our tax paying money goes, but yet we are the one who works for it. I don't put my faith in any of the morons elected.

Great book
October 22, 2012

This is a great and inspiring book, If you don't care for obama, why would you click on the book to begin with? Just skip over it, there are books on every President, read the ones you like and don't read the ones you don't like. This is a great book for children, hopefully a child who is taught to hate other people because of their presidential party choice will pick this up by accident and read it, they might learn something positive. As for Mary P and a few others, you're Christians? Wow, what a way for a Christian to act. Did you even graduate high school? What grade did you finish, because you are really showing your ignorance and hatred, don't believe everything you read or hear during presidential bashing time, they all try to dig up dirt on each other, come on you gotta be smarter than that...you don't know Obama, you only know what you read or hear and choose to believe. Why don't you read the book, it's for ages 4-6 maybe you will learn something and learn to love and be a real Christian.

Disappointed in Crossings
July 07, 2012

I about fell out of my chair when I saw the book about Obama and especially in the Children's section. I am very disappointed and appalled that a christian book club would offer such a book about a man who has belittled the Christian faith and has overstepped his powers numerous times. He has made change alright, but not for the better. I am not a racist as I'm sure many of you are thinking. I would say the same thing if he were white. What does the Bible say about some of the things he supports? This is NOT a book you should have on your shelf!!!

Wow!
December 02, 2011

I read the comments posted by K and Connie and all I can say is Wow!! Every person has a right to his/her opinion, but whether or not you believe President Obama is an American, one thing is for certain we are all children of God. Remember God is love and we as Christians should all strive to be like Christ.
