The Artist Who Painted a Blue Horse

Turn to any page of The Artist Who Painted a Blue Horse and it’s easy to see why Eric Carle is one of the best loved picture book creators around. Brilliant pops of color and wonderful full-page illustrations are sure to delight little ones discovering Eric Carle’s books for the first time as well as longtime fans of Carle classics like The Very Hungry Caterpillar. Emergent readers will be able to read this book by themselves simply by looking at the pictures and describing what they see. Inspired by Franz Marc, a young artist who loved painting brightly colored animals, The Artist Who Painted a Blue Horse, might just inspire all who see Carle’s collages to get creative with paper and paint. My 2 year old daughter asks to have this read to her EVERY-- SINGLE-- NIGHT! She absolutely loves it. If you have an artistic child, you should definitely get this book.

Granddgtr. Started reading and Loves the simple..
April 20, 2012

Our granddgtr. started reading simply by going thru familiar books - but particularly loved this one for the simple phrases and easy words per page - she took off and developed her own expansion of the 'story' along with reading it. This club is great for eager readers - the selections can be geared to every child's ability and challenge !!

My grandson loves books with lots of color, this one included. Very happy with purchase. Bonus history info at the end of book for adults and budding artists.

A world of possibilities and it is OK to think outside the box-imagaination is a wonderful thing. I bought this for the school library. We have several of Eric Carle's books. A good addition to the collection.
